Tenghiz Dimitriyevich Zaalishvili was born September 21, 1928.
While in school, Zaalishvili was the soloist of the school's choir.
During a concert his voice drew attention. After that, Zaalishvili was admitted in a school for musically gifted children,
where he studied together with future singers, such as
Lamara Chkonia (27 December 1930),
Mamia Khatelishvili (1932-1988), Nodar Kvernadze.
Zaalishvili studied voice with Sandro Inashvili at the Tbilissi Conservatory. He finished in 1956.
Zaalishvili spent most of his life in Tbilissi singing at the Tbilissi Opera from 1959 as principal tenor.
He made guest appearances throughout the Soviet Union. He still sang occasionally
in public at almost 80 years old!
