Alessandro (Aleksandre) Khomeriki

Aleksandre Khomeriki was born on July 13, 1948 in Batumi (Georgia). During 1971-74, Khomeriki studied in Batumi at the Paliashvili Music School. At the same time, he sang in the pop-group "Adila" (First prize of all CCCP competitions "Young Voices"). In 1980, he graduated from the Tbilisi Conservatoire (Prof. G. Gogichadze’s class). In 1977, even being a student, he entered the troupe of the Paliashvili Opera House. In 1981-2, he trained at La Scala (under the supervision of Giulietta Simionato). He has powerful equal sounding voice in all registers. His roles included Don Carlo, Riccardo, Abesalom (Abesalom and Eteri, Z.Paliashvili), Malkhazi (Daisi, Z. Paliashvili), Berdia (Lela, R. Lagidze), Lenski, Vodemon, José, Cavaradossi, Radames, Alfredo, Duca, Naraboth (Salome), Otello etc. Khomeriki was Laureate of the Shota Rustaveli State Prize (1995), the 7th International Tchaikovsky Competition (Moscow, 1982), and winner of the Komsomol award (1982).
